SUMMARY: Buffy remembers on her Mom's birthday.
DISCLAIMER: Same as my Disclaimer page.
FEEDBACK: Yes, please. I love criticism!
DISTRIBUTION: Sorry, it's a bit personal.

Today was the day. Today her mother had celebrated the day of her birth with presents and cake. It always had to be chocolate cake, because, "If it isn't chocolate, It wasn't really cake." But today she wasn't around. Today the only thing marking her way in the world, her defeats and accomplishments, was a single candle, lit by the daughter who loved her more than anything else.

It was beautiful, the candles and the soft, smiling pictures. Her mother loved the music that played in the background. Buffy would have given anything, her powers, any money she had left, anything that would bring her back. But none of the tears or the overpowering grief... that was gone awhile ago. So today there there was only the memory of the joy that they shared, and the funny stories. There was the candle, and love.

"I love you Mom. I'll miss you forever." Buffy said as she lit another candle. And she let them burn until, like her mother's life, it was snuffed out. The rest remained as silent as the day she died.
