Willow's Rune ||>

I was thinking even as I saw this episode that this wasn't a proper spell. But as I was reading the poem version of "The Wiccan Rede," I finally came up with what I could use this as. The poem has a line: "Deosil go by waxing moon, chanting out the Witches' Rune." So I decided to use this and write one, only Buffy style - of course! These are usually used for empowerment, whether or not it's for a spell or your well-being, and tend to be pretty cool.

Materials Needed:

  1. Circle of red candles (tea candles are ok, but as a BtVS purist, it should be bigger.)
  2. Incense censer with incense
  3. A bowl with either a pentacle in it, or one drawn/painted in it.
  4. Chalice/goblet with wine/juice or holy water in it (holy water recommended)
  5. Cleansed and consecrated sand

Ok, this is where it gets tricky because I'm not going to do exactly the movements Willow does, but I try for close. Also, Since in Runes Quarter calls are pretty much built in, I'm not doing one.

Sit in the center of circle of candles (and watch so you don't catch anything on fire!) Drop sand in bowl and say:

Harken all ye elements, I summon thee now.

Then light the incense and inhale, relaxing and getting deeper in that alpha state. Say when ready:

Control the outside, control within.

Land and sea, fire and wind.

Out of my passions, a web be spun.

From this eve forth, my will be done.

So mote it be.

Pour the goblet into the bowl signifying the mixture of earth/water, fire/air to aid you. Then continue with whatever working you were attempting, or just ground, dismiss and close the circle (by blowing out the candles) if the object was to give yourself some oomph. That's what this is all about after all.
